What's New
  1. CLOTHING FOR CAMP:
Our policy regarding "what is worn at camp" is the result of many years of careful observation and suggestions from parents. White Winnebagoe T-shirts, or just plain white tops are worn Friday nights with "neater" jeans or pants. The Winnebagoe T-shirt is also worn during inter-camp competitions, Visitor's Day, and other special occasions. Although we would like all of our campers to have the official T-shirts, THEY ARE NOT COMPULSORY. However, please keep in mind that if any piece of clothing is "basic", it is the white top.

Please remember that fancy clothing is unnecessary and should not be brought to camp.

  2. LIFE JACKETS:
While we do have a sufficient number of life jackets at camp for all our campers, you may wish to provide your child with a jacket fit specifically for his / her own use. This particularly applies to our smaller and younger campers.

  3. LAUNDRY BAGS:
Our laundry service supplies us with a personal bag for everyone at camp. It is therefore unnecessary to send laundry bags with your child this year.

  4. OFFICIAL CAMP CLOTHING:
Again this year, Winnebagoe clothing will be available only through the enclosed mail-order system. A variety of Winny Wear can all be purchased by completing the yellow order form and returning it to us PRIOR TO MAY 5TH.

REGRETFULLY, AFTER MAY 5TH, NO NEW ORDERS CAN BE TAKEN DUE TO MANUFACTURERS' TIME RESTRAINTS.

  5. NAME TAPES:
We suggest that you order name tapes at this time. There are two types of name-tapes which can be used to identify your child's clothing: sew-on or iron-on. Both types are effective and it is simply a matter of personal preference as to the kind you use. Order forms for both types of labels are enclosed here. In addition, we are including a label order form specifically designed for shoes.

Names which are merely stamped in ink, however, tend to fade in the heavy-duty cycles of the camp laundry. It is our experience that those articles with hand-written labels are most frequently left behind in our lost-and-found because the tapes cannot be clearly read.

    A HELPFUL HINT:
As winter comes to an end and heavy sweaters, jackets and sweatshirts are put aside, label those heavy items going to camp. It's so much easier in May and June to sew on only half the stack of articles being packed.

  6. CAMP DATES:
Full Season   ......   Thursday, June 29th to Sunday, August 20th
July Term   ......   Thursday, June 29th to Tuesday, July 25th
August Term   ......   Tuesday, July 25th to Sunday, August 20th
Two-Week Term   ......   Tuesday, July 25th to Sunday, August 6th
Visitors' Days   ......   SATURDAY, July 21nd (Full Season and July Campers)
SUNDAY, August 5th (August and two-week campers only)

  7. TRANSPORTATION:
All campers travel to camp on chartered buses. Specific details regarding time and place of departure will be forwarded to you in early June. Canadian campers living outside the Toronto area travel to camp on the Toronto buses.
  8. DUFFLE BAGS: WE ASK THAT EVERYONE USE THEM
We find that duffles are most practical as they are much easier for us to handle and store than trunks. Trunks will NOT be placed on the baggage trucks. As there is limited space on the baggage trucks and in the cabins as well, we recommend that a one-month camper use two duffle bags and a full season camper no more than three bags. It is also unfair to those who must lift and carry your bags to pack excessively heavy items. We appreciate your co-operation in this regard.

  9. HEALTH CERTIFICATES:
In recent years, parents have been asked to complete camper health forms themselves. These health history cards are mailed to you in May in order for us to have the most updated information possible on your child's medical status. At that time, we ask that you provide us with a comprehensive medical history about your son/daughter so that we may continue to treat our campers in the most trustworthy and responsible manner possible.

A doctor's signature is no longer required for the completion of a camp medical form. However, parents will be asked to give the camp permission to contact the camper's physician should the need arise.

Health history forms along with details regarding departure and baggage information will be mailed to you in May.

  10. WHAT'S NEW:
In spite of the fact that Camp looks and feels like an extension of the North Pole, construction of those buildings we mentioned in our last letter has been ongoing. We believe that our building crew is indisputably the real winner of 'Survivor' --- way to go Vic, Terry and Debbie! Cabins B5, B6, G12, and G14 have now been completed and the new Arts Centre is at the halfway point. Adding to the fun in main camp, we will be installing three shuffleboard courts and two tetherball courts. The Landsports Staff are ready to take on any challengers. As well, the hockey cushion is being resurfaced in the Spring.

As always, it is our hope that these improvements will further contribute to the well-being and enjoyment of both our campers and staff.

If we can be of any further assistance whatsoever regarding camp preparation or other details pertaining to the coming season, please don't hesitate to contact us.

With kindest regards,

The Lustigs
